Meet Our Team
Centre Owner – Kelston
Hello, I am Maggie Xu. I studied engineering in Shanghai and traveled around the world and worked on super high-rise buildings, but that did not prevent me from being mesmerized by the good old Saturday BBQ where kids run wild and things get broken. Sooner or later we all come back to family, to kids mostly.
My Name is Jane Cooper- Scott and I am the Centre Manager of Just Kidz Kelston.
I am a qualified and registered teacher with over 20 years’ experience within the sector.
I have lived in Titirangi all my life and am currently living in Laingholm with my husband and two beautiful daughters.
I am passionate about building relationships with children and families within our community and managing a centre which provides quality early childhood education and care of our children.
At Just Kidz Kelston, you can be reassured that while you are away from your child, they will be loved and well taken care of. Our hand-picked team of educators show passion, warmth and have confidence in their teaching practice. Together we can support your child to grow and develop at their own pace, while having fun and feeling safe and secure.
Hi, my name is Hayley Mellsop and I am a teacher in the Piha Room at Just Kidz Kelston. I am a Qualified and Registered early childhood teacher with a passion for working with Under 2’s. I love watching children grow and develop, at their own pace, and love being able to document this journey for our families/whanau.
I live in Glendene, with my partner Mike, his two teenage daughters and our daughter Madison, who also attends Just Kidz Kelston.
Since having my daughter, I am even more dedicated to ensuring that we provide quality, loving, respectful care for all of the children who attend our centre, and developing trusting and reciprocal relationships with families/whanau. I truly understand what a huge decision it is, to leave your child in childcare. I couldn’t recommend Just Kidz enough, Madi and I just love it!
Kia ora and Kamusta,
My name is Marjorie and I am your Filipino kaiako. I was a registered secondary and primary government school teacher in my home country, Philippines before coming to work in the Early Childhood Education sector in New Zealand. I hold full NZ teacher registration for both secondary and early childhood education and a graduate of level 7 Diploma in Teaching ECE from New Zealand Tertiary College. I have worked in different ECE centres since 2013 in West Auckland. I feel very privileged to be a part of Just Kidz Kelston, a Reggio-inspired ECE Centre, and am excited to work in partnership with Just Kidz learning community.
I believe teaching is more than a profession. Teaching is a vocation. I believe that when a teacher/kaiako practices teaching as vocation he/she does it with utmost dedication, commitment, passion, hard work and best moral and ethical values, behavior and character. Teachers practice teaching as vocation because every child and its whanau deserves the best.
Kia ora, Fakaalofa lahi atu.
My name is Tui Vihi and I am of Niuean descent, however born and raised on the sunny North Shore, Auckland.I am a qualified and registered kaiako, having graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) with Te Tari Puna o Aotearoa, now known as Te Rito Maioha.
I have been living in New Lynn for the past 18 years with my partner Paki and our now grown teenage children, Eden & Wiremu. In my spare time I like listening to music, reading, doing puzzles and relaxing with my whānau.
I enjoy learning about our tamariki and their culture, at the same time, supporting them with their learning through play. I am also passionate about implementing biculturalism and strengthening our partnership with Te Tiriti o Waitangi in our new centre.
Kia Ora & Konnichiwa,
My name is Yuka Fritiofsson and I grew up in Tokyo / Japan.
My first cooking experience goes back to the time when I was in my early teens and helped my parents at their traditional Japanese restaurant. Having the opportunity to be trained by qualified chefs from a young age made me really interested in cooking. Being a very active person still made me choose a different career path as an Instructor with focus on children.
After attaining my degree in Tokyo, I was working at a Fitness Club as an instructor; my specialty was swimming and most my students were preschool aged. During that time, I was also a camp leader at both summer and winter camps for young children.
My adventures as a traveler began in 2007 when I packed my bags and left for Australia, with that I also started my career abroad as a cook and never looked back.
The highlight in my life is my family with two energetic boys, they inspire me to become even more passionate about healthy cooking. I also understand the importance of best food safety practices at all times having completed training both in England and New Zealand.
I feel very privileged to cook for the children at Just Kidz Kelston, also looking after and caring for them as much as time allows.
